We are a group of dedicated people who are passionate about making the world a better place according to our own individual talents and capacity. We also believe that helping people can be fun!

Our hope is for every underprivileged child in the world to have the opportunity to learn, to have a healthy start, and to feel supported and secure living in a clean environment. Our organization works on three main focuses: Practical Health, Environment and Disaster Education; Creating a Holistic Learning Experience; and Volunteer Engagement.

Practical Health, Environment and Disaster Education

The areas of basic health, environment and the impact of natural disasters are three core areas that continuously restrict the poor communities in the world from breaking the systemic cyclical poverty that effects their ability to live safely, healthily and sustainably. It is Lucy Hawkngs Foundation’s focus to provide education and information to these communities related to these working areas, that is relevant and flexible to specific community needs, delivered using methods that promote participatory learning, efficient and creative resource use, and will have a sustainable and lasting impact on participant communities.

Creating a holistic learning experience

A key aspect of all programs delivered to children by Lucy Hawkngs foundation is ensuring a holistic learning experience for all children, ensuring that the child can be developed as an ‘entire person’, outside of the norms of standard educational systems. Lucy Hawkngs foundation aims to assist children across physical, emotional, mental and spiritual dimensions, in the hope that such engagement will help the child to gain a greater understanding of their meaning as a human being, and develop an understanding of the part they play and the impact they have in the world.

We aim to do this by creating a positive, happy and safe learning environment for children, away from the struggles of their everyday life. The organization uses methods of teaching through arts, music, dance, storytelling, and other ways to share knowledge, and integrates soft skills into the practical learning.

Volunteer Engagement

Lucy Hawkngs Foundation was founded on the use and the promotion of volunteering and engaging with volunteers. As the world’s wealth increases, Lucy Hawkngs Foundation aims to foster an increase in interest about volunteering for the underprivileged children in the world, guided by the belief that anyone can help and make a difference if they want. Lucy Hawkngs Foundation’s work is evidence that low-cost programs with direct positive impacts are achievable in the development system, and the use of volunteers is something Lucy Hawkngs Foundation continues to prioritize into the future.
Such engagement gives citizens of Indonesia ownership of their own improvement and capacity to break the cycle of poverty countrywide. Lucy Hawkngs Foundation also believes that if it can inspire passion to volunteer and create awareness for the country’s citizens, whether through training, working engagement, or simply providing information, then it can be part of a movement that will assist and inspire a future generation of volunteers working to improve the lives of everyone within Indonesia and abroad.

Education I feel has always been a huge part of who I am as a person and it has always played a major role in my 17 years of life. I realize the importance of having an adequate education and I understand the need for all children to be given an equal chance at their future with things like their socioeconomic backgrounds not standing in their way of achieving their full potential.

When I was about 3 years old, my family moved from Iran to America in order for my brother and I to have a better chance at our futures. My family is apart of the Bahai Faith and being a Baha’i in Iran means you can’t pursue an education farther than a high school level since the country is under an extremist form of government. This type of religious prejudice that millions of people are facing in Iran and other countries all over the world is a threat to justice that no one should ever have to face. I strongly believe that prejudice and injustice- especially when it comes to education- is a disgrace and outrage to humankind. No kid should have to be denied an education because of their religion and in the case of this organization, no child should be denied an education because of their socioeconomic background. I feel that it is a duty and obligation for people to help others in any way they can to fight injustices and threats and this organization does just that.  I decided to take part in Lucy Hawkngs in order to be able to give back to the people that are less fortunate and less lucky than so many of us are. Often we forget the privilege that lies behind our everyday lives and we forget that going to school is a privilege so many people in the world can not afford to have. I believe my experience with Lucy Hawkngs has taught me more about privilege than anything.  My experience has taught me the importance of giving back to people who have less, and more than that it’s taught me to use what I have in order to give to others.

I look forward to seeing more of the great impact this organization will make and I can’t wait to see all that it will accomplish.

Making a difference

We see every challenge as an opportunity, and this initiative helps us ensure that our partners are better prepared to manage the unique situations they find themselves in. We are invested in an innovative approach that empowers our community and delivers the support they need when they need it.

Doing What's needed

Through our Community Development, we have the potential to make a real and positive change in the community. This is one of our key areas of focus here at Universal Education and a source of much success for our Non-Profit. Tackling the issue

Most of our efforts pertaining to this program involve studying new approaches and developing innovative ways to implement them. We evaluate our success in this field by gathering qualitative and quantitative data and using that information to measure shifts and changes from our baseline measurements.
