Brief History

Years ago I had the honor and privilege of becoming a Pilot with Virgin Atlantic. As I started working as a Pilot, I got the opportunity to travel to different parts of the world, meeting underprivileged children from countries like Indonesia, Namibia, Indian, Thailand, Zambia, Cameroon, Ghana and Philippines. Slowly the story of the children I met became my own, as if I could see life through a hundred different sets of eyes. So I began to live a hundred different stories. Stories untold too distant to reach. Stories of challenges and struggles that no one could understand unless you lived every second of it. Years of schooling did not do justice to the life lessons I learned from these kids. I saw the faces of children in these kids and in them I saw a better world. Lucy Hawkngs Foundation is for every child that has ever felt unworthy or misunderstood or is too far to be noticed. I hope this organization can lay the foundation for an education that is worthy of you.

Lucy Hawkngs foundation believes that access to quality education is the right of every child regardless of their location and financial status. We feel it our responsibility to do our part in serving all children, especially the ones from under-privileged communities around the globe.
We take the notion of “it takes the whole village to raise a child”, seriously and for this we depend on individuals, corporations, government agencies and other institutions to help us champion our cause.

What We Achieved
In 2017 we worked closely with SHUMAS to undertake a wide-ranging impact assessment on the construction work completed over the previous 5 years. We are delighted with all the positive impacts that our projects have had on these communities and with the recognition that we have gained at both regional and national government level.
